Off the clay and onto the grass!!
The clay court swing was never designed to see Lleyton’s best tennis shine, but rather a combination of building blocks that pave the way for a successful grass court season. This was unfortunate and necessary due to the setback of a hip injury, which occurred following the completion of the Australia Open. Lleyton has show extreme intensity, desire, and dedication to overcome these adverse obstacles; which goes a long way to portray his passion and determination for success.
Grass is the most suitable surface that complements Lleyton’s game; from his serve to his groundstrokes, every shot is more effective, and we both believe this is the best chance to add another grand slam title to his collection! I believe this is the springboard that will assist in generating momentum for the rest of 2010 and beyond…
That being said we are presently competing in Halle, Germany. The “team” is here, which includes David Drysdale (manager), Ivan Gutierrez (Physio), and myself. We are currently witnessing an inspired, and confident Lleyton through the first two rounds. I am noticing and appreciating the subtle improvements in his game and mindset, which are necessary for success in the modern game. Before each match I remind Lleyton that this is the beginning of our journey towards the Wimbledon trophy, and “inch by inch” and “match by match” we will work our way towards this dream.
