G’day,

Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for their best wishes with the Olympics. It’s always a huge honour to represent your country, I’m lucky enough to be able to do it in Davis Cup but the Olympics is a special event that only comes around once every four years.

This was my 2nd Olympics and it’s great to be apart of such a great Australian Team. All the Australian Athletes stayed in the one part of the Village and there really was a great bond between all the athletes. I marched at the opening ceremony along side all our Tennis players.

It was an amazing event (even though it was so hot and humid). The Tennis was played in a brand new complex with 3 major show courts. We were all handed pretty tough draws with Gooch playing Blake in the 1st round and I was up against the tough veteran Jonas Bjorkman who always plays well for his country with Rafa Nadal in round two.

It was pleasing to get through my opening singles but with limited preparation leading into the event Nadal was too good in the 2nd round. The evening before my 2nd round singles Gooch and I played our 1st round doubles against the Argentinen pair of Calleri and Monaco, this turned out to be one of the most enjoyable doubles matches that I’ve been apart of. We ended up saving 4 match points and pulled off an amazing victory 4-6,7-6,18-16. It was an Olympic record for games played in the modern era. We had another great win over the seeded Spaniards Nadal and Robredo before going down to the top seeded Bryan brothers.

Overall the Olympics were a great experience and Beijing put on an unbelievable show!
