INDIAN WELLS

It was a good week in Indian Wells which could have been a lot better with a little bit of luck. It was pleasing to beat two quality opponents like Querrey and Youzhny, as they have both been in great form this year, especially on hardcourts.

It was disappointing, however, to have lost such a tight match to Fish. I felt like I had more small opportunities in the third set than he, but I couldn’t get the break through required. He was playing some great tennis though and continued his good form by knocking off Nalbandian and Federer in the next two rounds. Hopefully I can continue hitting the ball well this week leading into the next Masters Series event in Miami.

Golf
I was fortunate to play a couple of great golf courses whilst in Palm Springs. I played a couple of rounds with Darren Cahill, Ivan (my trainer) and Mark Woodforde (who lives in Palm Springs). We decided that Darren and I would take on The Dog (Ivan) and Pecker (Mark). Darren and I played some very solid golf in both rounds and ended up winning quite comfortably.

In the other game I played with George Lazenby, he was one of the first guys to play James Bond. We took on Ivan and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Ivan and Juan Carlos were speaking spanish all day long and were laughing when they were 4 holes up at one stage, but George and I refused to give in and produced a remarkable comeback to win by 2 holes. Juan Carlos is a very keen golfer and he and Rafa Nadal have challenged Ivan and I to a round in Miami. I am a little worried cause I’ve never actually teamed up with Ivan before and hopefully he won’t be an achor around my neck. But I am really looking forward to that one!
