Time is really getting away! March is here already.
It feels as though Christmas and the Australian summer of tennis have only just finished! We really enjoy that time of year as rarely does Lleyton have the opportunity to play in front of a home crowd. And it's great to have family and friends come along to support him as well.
So it all begins with us heading to Adelaide right after Christmas where we catch up with relatives on Lleyton's side of the family, and then the first tornament for the year the Next Generation Adelaide International. Mia was more than happy for her Dad to go off to play tennis and for me to watch him for she got to spend time with her three favourite boys Jackson, Luke and Brodie Edwards!
Next stop was back to Sydney for the Medibank International and then on to Melbourne for the Australian Open! Mia had such a great time visiting the tournament creche. The staff working there are wonderful and Mia is still asking to go back and see the girls!
Mia really enjoys going to the tennis. She gets very excited to see the other players children (and of course encouraging her Dad to do well). In fact, it's quite amazing watching them all play together. They all speak different languages yet they all get along! Mia is even learning words and counting in both Spanish and French.
It's going to be a busy year ahead with Lleyton's busy schedule including Davis Cup and the Olympics for 2008. However Mia and I are really looking forward to it! We love travelling as a little family and experiencing different countries and cultures, tasting different foods and not to mention the range of shopping available!
Currently we're in Las Vegas. I love it here! This has to be one of my favourite places to visit for the year! The energy here is great, everyone seems to be having such a great time and (dare I say it) fantastic shopping!
Lleyton and I were also lucky enough to see Ray Romano (Every body loves Raymond) and Kevin James (King of Queens, the movie Hitch) live on stage, and to add to the fun of the night Jason Alexander (George Costanza from Seinfield) was seated in front of us and they got him up on stage to join them. A great night out!
This year I will be continuing with certain projects which I enjoy being part of. One is a business venture with Lleyton and the other as an ambassador for a children’s hosptial. Eswap.com.au is an Australian business that Lleyton and I are really passionate about. The online auctioning/swapping site provides Australians with a cheaper (compared to some other likewise sites) opportunity to buy and sell goods and also importantly the chance for many collectors etc to swap goods of varying value. It is completely 100% Australian owned and we encourage people to have a look and sign up!
The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provide a range of incredible services for children and their families with an extremely dedicated staff trying to help them through the traumas of sick children. As a parent, when approached to be an ambassador for the hospital, I didn’t hesitate to help. Both Lleyton and I have visited the hospital and we love helping bring a smile to children who are not suffering the joys of life we all take for granted. A big reminder to you all for Bandaged Bear Day on March 14 and please give your support. More details can be found on www.chw.ed.au.
I hope you all enjoy our website and I look forward to answering your questions and talking to you in the future.
Take care!
Love Bec
