BIO

Ivan Antonio Gutierrez, orn 21st February 1956, in Bucaramanga, Columbia.

Ivan spent his early educational years in Paris, France before coming to Australia.

In Melbourne became a qualified physiotherapist, graduating from Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences (now part of Melbourne University.) He underwent Post graduation studies in Sports Physiotherapy  at the University of Bergen (Norway) and  Post graduation studies  in Manipulative Physiotherapy at Melbourne University.

Ivan has had extensive clinical experience in private practice in general and sports physiotherapy.

He was the Head Team Physiotherapist at the Carlton Football Club (Australian Rules Football) for 23 years until end of season 2005.

For the last 19 years Ivan has been the Head Physiotherapist at the Australian Open, and has had stints working as the private physiotherapist for Greg Norman, Mark Philippoussis, Guillermo Coria, Carlos Moya, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Maria Sharapova.

His professional interests include Sports Physiotherapy as applied to tennis and soccer and Acupuncture relative to sports injuries.

Ivan joined Team Hewitt in May 2007, and when not traveling with Lleyton consults at The St. Kilda Road Sports Physiotherapy Clinic.
